This can only occur when this research is vetted through a process of development that creates the interest needed to continue the funding cycle to a commercialized product.

Defining the unfilled need in terms of the technology research developed  can often times be daunting.  A key element for sucess in these technologies requires a defined solution to a specific problem the market wants.  For that to happen the solution must be structured in terms of the unfilled need. This requires an understanding of the technology and the entity with the need as well as the business issues that must be mitigated. i.e. structure, cost, intellectual property,for example. AI for example, as it relates to structured and unstructured machine learning algorithms require accurate real world data sets to function.
